Uniting the Voices of Seniors is a Powerful Tool
The voices of everyday seniors and their families can have a tremendous impact. Your group –whether formal or just a cluster of friends– can make a difference. And, with United Senior Action there are plenty of ways you can get involved.
#1 Join as a USA Member Group
Formally joining United Senior Action shows legislators and others how strongly you support the goals of USA. If you belong to a senior club that is interested in becoming a group member of United Senior Action, download and mail the Membership Application.
#2 Organize an Action Network within your group
Just like an old-fashioned telephone tree, when quick action is needed your group can spread the word by phone or even e-mail. Sign up for e-alerts to receive action items throughout the year.
#3 Meet with your public officials
There is no better way to influence public officials than meeting them face-to-face. We can help you arrange for a trip to the statehouse or help you invite your legislators or other public officials to a group meeting.
#4 Include information in your group newsletter
If your group has a newsletter, include information about the important issues including action steps people can take.
#5 Participate in rallies, press conferences, and forums
Much of our work involves making people aware of problems and solutions. When there are events in your area, have your group participate. It’s a great way to be part of the action.
#6 Recruit others as individual members of USA
United Senior Action is owned by our members not some corporate interest. This independence is critical to our work. Help recruit folks in your group to join USA where they will directly participate in shaping the policies and direction of the organization.
